i received this somewhat foreboding fortune last night from the fortune cookie i consumed after our chinese takeout. i didn't give it much thought at the time. just a silly fortune right.
oh. so. wrong.
i had plans to take carter up to my office today. to visit and show him off... you know the obligatory thing to do before returning to work. i think they fire you if you don't. or at least throw rocks at you.
this week i have been working to get us into a regimen. we have been getting up at five and putting him to bed earlier at night, so that we are in a routine by the time i go back to work. this kid has pretty much slept through the night since his 2 week check up. he probably would have straight home from the hospital, but they had me waking him every 3 hours to eat. anyway... last night, well this morning he decided 3:30 was a great time to get up.
it wasn't. not for me anyway. so i get up, feed him and then try to put him back down. except he thinks it's 5 and was up. ready to play and chat and coo. i didn't feel so much like cooing. not even remotely. it was 4:15 in the morning. HELLO. so just before 5 i get him back to sleep.
then my alarm clock goes off. dammit.
i decide to go ahead and get up and get myself a shower, because i know that carter is going to be ready to eat in another hour. and i am one of those people that is much better off staying awake than to be awoken after a short 40 minute nap. i get pretty crabby, ok, super bitchy.
so i get the shower, feed the kid and we both lay down for a 2 hour nap. i get up get him ready, me ready, the dog is in her cage, we are all systems go, i am ready to go meet my friends for lunch. baby is in the car, run through the list to make sure i have everything i need, turn the car on...
and i see this in the little information panel thing... **WARNING TIRE EXTREMELY LOW**
i get out. check the tires and sure enough the back tire has a freaking screw sticking out of it. DAMMIT!
by this point carter is screaming his head off because when in the carseat he expects motion, like he starts crying at stop lights. and because he is screaming he is getting hot, which just makes him scream more.
so i get him out and make my phone calls.
needless to say we did not make it to my office today.
but... there were some high points. Jason happened to be relatively close to our house out on a job when i made this discovery so he was able to use his lunch hour to come and get carter and i and take us to lunch. the three of us in the ranger was a pretty sight, let me tell you. and... when he took me back to the goodyear store, the guy didn't charge me to fix the tire. i don't know if it's because he felt sorry for me or because we have been there several times, on more than one occasion for a screw sticking in our tire.
and i got to take some pictures of carter dressed up in his super cute frog onesie. and the little frog robeez . I love those little shoes, they are so cute. Thanks Nicky!
Carter fighting the sandman. he didn't win by the way. he's sleeping right now.
