Jason and I took a little weekend trip to Wimberley. I'll be honest... we missed the kids the WHOLE time. hahaha we had fun though. We stayed in a super cute little cabin. It rained the whole weekend so it kind of limited our options. we did a lot of hanging out and eating and drinking. pretty much what we don't really get to do at home with two kids... sit. sleep. relax.
here are are few pictures from our adventures...
we kept seeing this group of these 4 baby deer. and they were pretty comfortable with the fact we were in the car. we would stop and watch and they would stand there and watch us. i had this image blown up and put on canvas already. i love it.
these were on the road towards our cabin. pretty cute.
This was at Driftwood Estate Winery. This place was beautiful - i wish the weather would have been better. Oh well. We enjoyed a wine tasting and bought a couple bottles to bring home.
I would love to figure out how to make wine and sit up here on this hill and watch my grapes grow. what an awesome gig.
from Driftwood we went on to Duchman Family Winery. While I enjoyed it, it was a stark contrast to Driftwood. It was more commercial. They have this amazing restaurant next door that draws quite the crowd. They give tours. We had another tasting here and spent time on the tour and then went next door to the restaurant and waited about an hour for a table.
the other highlights include - on the way up, we stopped in Luling for some good ol' Texas barbecue at Luling City Market. If you are ever in the vicinity, make the stop. SO worth it.
We went to Wimberley Glass works - another fun thing. you can watch them blow glass and they have an awesome gallery filled with things I would love to have but can't afford.
We both LOVED the pizza at Brewsters and their beer was also amazing. YUM YUM YUM.
If you don't know about the show The Daytripper on PBS, I highly recommend it. It has given us many Texas vacation ideas!
We are really lucky to have such awesome Moms and Dads that will watch our kids for us so we can have a break and get away. I really enjoy my husband, and trips like this remind me that I made the right choice. Sometimes in the thick of the everyday, it's kind of hard to remember our days pre-kids.
